Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and individuals with End-Stage Renal Disease.

Most people enroll during their Initial Enrollment Period (around age 65). There’s also the Annual Enrollment Period (Oct. 15 – Dec. 7) when you can review and change plans.

SEPs allow you to change coverage outside of standard enrollment windows if you experience certain life events, like moving to a new state or losing employer coverage.
